Despite the new game engine and new features, this game could not establish itself commercially. In 1999 Prince of Persia 3D was released for the PC. The game was able to surprise and captivate the player, although it looked monotonous at first glance. The game was implemented for numerous platforms, including Amiga, CPC, Apple Macintosh, Apple II, Game Boy, PC, Mega Drive, Master System, Game Gear, NES, SAM Coupé, SNES, ZX Spectrum and mobile phones. For the first time, human movements were shown relatively realistically with the help of rotoscopy. Prince of Persia was a real innovation for the time.
